Here I sit, staring at this blank word document that very well reflects my current mental state. BLANK. As I struggle to find a topic to write about, I check my previous posts hoping that sparks up an idea, and I realized that my posts are kind of all over the place. Like VERY random, heh. So I thought “if I really want to do this blogging thing – maybe I should focus on one topic to always write about.” And then I quickly snapped out of that thought because if there is one thing social media has taught me, is that I don’t have to confine myself to one thought, or idea. When I put a label on myself such as “Fitness Blogger” I limit my potential and what I can share with you all… and why would I want that? We need variety, we need random. We need to stop putting ourselves in a box and start to explore all the different dimensions that truly makes us who we are.
Today, it seems like majority of people are putting their focus on finding their niche. On social media especially, as more and more people become interested in building a platform to market their brand. So they will tell you pick ONE thing – be this, post this, say this – and slowly but surely it all starts to look the same, because there is no authenticity any more. It’s just a series of people looking to get a response in numbers. Whether it be followers, likes, comments, etc. And since we are conditioned to think that more is better, we chase quantity instead of quality. We choose to invest in what we DON’T have instead of investing in what we DO have. And most lose themselves in that. They become the image they are trying to sell. A “niche” that promises success. While forgetting their purpose, their essence, and the many other valuable qualities they have to offer.
Our gifts were given to us to serve others; a world that is in true need of help. But majority of people think in numbers instead of service – and I think that is where fulfillment gets lost. If you are not being your authentic self, and helping others in some way – you will not feel fulfilled; no matter how big your platform is, or how much money you earn. If YOU are your own brand, just be YOU. Because in being YOU, you will find the true gift you were given to make this world a better place – rather than looking for it in a niche that is only going to make you into a replica of another person who is just as lost as you. You don’t have to make 6 figures or have a million followers to feel fulfilled, be successful, have freedom, and make a positive impact on this world. No amount of money, or external acceptance will ever compare to knowing deeply that you are walking in your truth and using your true gifts to serve the world.
